I gave the book five stars because I have not read anything like it except his other book, I'm Thinking of Ending Things. I'm not even sure I understand what happened in this book, but it is still so captivating. I read both of these books in very short periods of time. Overall it was a good read, but it left me with more questions than answers. I am not sure who was real and who was a replacement in the end
This book, "Foe", and "I am thinking of ending things" are awesome!
Had me going in a different direction until the end. Then had me thinking about it and scratching my head . . . .
This novel is very interior with little action, so not for people looking for a thriller. However, it's extremely timely and thought provoking. Saying more would give away too much. Excellent book club pick and it offers several topics to discuss.
I don't actually know how I feel about this book.

I really enjoyed his previous book, so I was very excited for Foe. Even made it my book club selection. And, although, the book is interesting and has some great moments... in the end, it just left me feeling a little empty.

The observations on relationships and consciousness were insightful, but kind of got lost in a book that is a few pages too long.
I just finished this gem! This is Reid’s second novel and after reading his first one, my expectations were extremely high; that book consumed my thoughts for weeks after finishing it. “Foe,” though completely different from his first novel, touched on the same themes of how isolation can affect someone and their relationship with others. Reid also poses philosophical questions that make the reader think deeply about how satisfied they may or may not be with their life and the routines it breeds. Reid’s ability to create an unsettling mood from start to finish is like no other and his plot twists are brilliant. More often than not, when a new author comes out, their work gets compared to another author’s work because their style may be similar or their work falls under the same genre. Reid is unique in so many ways and he shouldn’t be compared to anyone because his work is hauntingly beautiful. His writing will make your skin crawl, haunt your dreams, and make you cry all at the same time.
I liked the story and the characters were well-written. This was my second book from this author, so I had high expectations. While I liked this story, I thought it dragged in a few places. Rather than a mystery or a science fiction thriller, it was slower and steadier and built itself up until the end when there is a twist. I recommend it as it brings up some interesting questions about personal freedom and what it is we truly want (and what we might give up for those things).
